This is a very good question; after all there are only about 12 million Jews in the world and supporting their little state of Israel sets America against about 1 billion Muslims and some of the 1 billion Christians in the world.

From this it's obvious to conclude that America's foreign policy is based on other factors besides the pragmatism of economic and military strength.

Yet we must assume that America is bound to act in the best interests of its people.

We need, therefore to ask ourselves "What interests of the American people does supporting Israel serve if not economic and security interests?"

The fact is that America is a truly free nation. It was established because its founders wanted to be free to choose their own beliefs and ways of life without pressure from one religion or another.

The only way to achieve such a society was by democracy and the enforcement of laws laid down by a democratically elected government.

Not supporting a country as democratic as Israel founded by people who sought freedom, exactly like the founding fathers of America, from religious persecution America would be betraying the very foundation of her existence

The determined efforts of some undemocratic Moslem and Christian countries only serve to fortify and increase America's desire and need to support Israel ever more strongly.

America can not afford to allow any one religious group to force its ideas on a democratic, freedom loving country, simply by its numerical, economic and military might.

This is why America supports little Israel.
