Jerusalem Christian Weekend Itinerary
Day Activity Overnight
Day 1 Sat Depart the hotel at about 8:30 by taxi to ascend the Mt. of Olives for a panoramic view of the city. From here the tour will continue on foot down the Mt. of Olives, along the route possibly taken by Jesus in His entrance to Jerusalem. On our way we'll stop at the church of Dominus Flevit and continue down the mountain to the Garden of Gethsemane. From here we'll go to Mary's tomb then we'll continue on foot to the Lion's Gate. We'll stop for a visit at the Pools of Bethesda then, after a coffee break we'll contnue to the first Station of the Cross and then to the other stations untill we reach the tomb of the Holy Sepulcher. We'll have a light Arab lunch on the way along the Via Dolorosa. In the late afternon we'll visit the Garden Tomb and return to the hotel. Jerusalem
Day 2 Sun On your own.Visit Yad Vashem continue to the Knesset (special tours for visitors take place here on Sundays) Visit the David Tower Museum at the Jaffa Gate (easy to visit on their own) or continue to Ein Kerem Hadassah Hospital to visit the Chagall Windows. Visit Ein Kerem. the birthplace of John the Baptist and visit St. John's cave at Kibbutz Tsuba. Jerusalem
Day 3 Mon We'll start at the Zion Gate to visit David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper. Then we'll enter the Old City at the Zion Gate to visit the Jewish Quarter. Here we'll visit the 4 synagogues of Rabbi Yohanan ben Zakai, the Cardo, the Broad Wall of Hezekia. Then continue to the Burnt house and the Herodian Quarter. We'll then descend to the Western Wall and from there to the Temple Mount. From here we'll go down to the archaeological excavations of the City of David. We'll end the day taking a bus from the City of David to the Damascus Gate for coffee. From there we'll take a taxi to the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the miniature of Jerusalem showing how it looked in the times of the 2nd Temple. Jerusalem
